A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A WORK AUTHORIZATION FOR GENERAL ENGINEERING SERVICES WITH KEITH AND ASSOCIATES, INC. TO DEVELOP AND PREPARE CONCEPTUAL MASTER PLANS FOR THE CITY HALL BREEZEWAY AND COURTYARD.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City has been implementing phased renovations on the City Hall Building as part of a large scale renovation program. Monies have been budgeted in the Capital Improvement Fund to rehabilitate the breezeway as well as replace the existing bollard lighting with new bollard lighting. Additional funding was also requested in the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) Budget to replace the brick pavers; however, staff feels it would be a better approach to look at the breezeway and courtyard holistically rather than piecemeal the work.

DISCUSSION:

City staff determined that a conceptual master plan would be a better approach to addressing the City Hall breezeway and courtyard areas rather than piecemeal it together. Keith and Associates, Inc. is part of the City’s pool of qualified consultants selected via RFQ No. 03-25-20-02, “General Professional Engineering Design Services,” and has provided a quote to perform the services in the amount of $80,790. The proposed design schedule allows approximately six months to complete. The breezeway has been sanded a second time to address the slippery conditions and this will be monitored during the raining season.  The proposal also includes a small contingency budget so that the design team may move forward with construction documents for portions of the breezeway if appropriate.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
