body

BACKGROUND:

Given the many legislative issues impacting or having the potential to impact the City of Coconut Creek, the City utilizes ethical, professional, and experienced state and local lobbying consultants to bring the most expertise and knowledge to the issues, needs, and concerns of municipal governing, and to advocate for the City.  The City currently utilizes Ericks Consultants, Inc. to provide state and local lobbying consultant services.  Ericks Consultants, Inc. has provided lobbying services to the City since 2009.

DISCUSSION:

On March 08, 2020, the City issued Letter of Interest (L.O.I.) No. 04-08-20-09 to contract with a qualified firm to provide State and Local Lobbying Services.  Solicitations were electronically sent through the eBid system to twenty-one (21) firms. Two (2) responsive proposals were received from The Southern Group and Ericks Consultants, Inc.  A selection committee consisting of Bernadette Hughes, Assistant to the City Manager; Scott Stoudenmire, Director of Sustainable Development; Peta-Gay Lake, Director of Finance and Administrative Services; and Kathy Mehaffey, Deputy City Attorney, evaluated the submittals based on the criteria listed in the LOI.  The selection committee unanimously ranked Ericks Consultants, Inc. number one (1).  The contract term shall be for three (3) years with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods for an annual cost of $36,000.
