A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK AND ERICKS CONSULTANTS, INC. FOR STATE AND LOCAL LOBBYING SERVICES.

BACKGROUND:
Given the many legislative issues impacting or having the potential to impact the City of Coconut Creek, the City utilizes ethical, professional and experienced state and local lobbying consultants to bring the most expertise and knowledge to the issues, needs, and concerns of municipal governing.
One of the City’s current consultants is Ericks Consultants, Inc. who has provided state and local lobbying consultant services to the City of Coconut Creek since 2009. The most recent agreement with Ericks Consultants, Inc. expires February 28. The City issued a Letter of Interest (L.O.I.) for state and local lobbying services. The intent of the L.O.I is to contract with one (1) or two (2) qualified state and local lobbying consultants.
DISCUSSION:
Two valid responses were received and reviewed by Mary Blasi, City Manager, Bernadette Hughes, Assistant to the City Manager, and Karen Brooks, Director of Finance and Administrative Services. Ericks Consultants, Inc. was ranked first out of the two responses. It is the determination of this group to award an agreement for state and local lobbying services to Ericks Consulting Inc. in the amount of $36,000 per year, for a two-year period with the option to renew for three (3) additional one-year terms. Services to be provided are detailed in the attached agreement.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approving this resolution authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute an agreement between the City and Ericks Consultants, Inc. for state and local lobbying services.
