TITLE:

title

A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 2019-217 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE REVISED SCHOOLS SURVEILLANCE CAMERA SYSTEM ACCESS AGREEMENT WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY.

title

BACKGROUND:

It is the desire of the City to provide every possible means of protection to the students and personnel in public schools located within the City. On September 12, 2019, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 2019-217, which provided for a video surveillance agreement with the School Board of Broward County to allow the Coconut Creek Police Department to have access to real-time (live) video feeds and recorded video feeds from the School Board surveillance cameras at all schools and facilities during situations as defined in the agreement.

DISCUSSION:

Section 2.02.1 was added to the final approved video surveillance agreement, which covers the ownership and retention of the recorded video images; however, the agreement that went before the Commission on September 12, 2019, was missing that section.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
