TITLE:

title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT RENEWAL FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES WITH THE SEMINOLE TRIBE OF FLORIDA.

body

BACKGROUND:

The “Florida Mutual Aid Act,” contained in Chapter 23, Part I, of the Florida Statutes, permits law enforcement agencies to provide voluntary cooperation and assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional boundaries by entering into a mutual aid agreement. The City of Coconut Creek previously entered into a mutual aid agreement with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, which expired this year.

DISCUSSION:

The City is committed to protecting its residents and ensuring public safety. By renewing this mutual aid agreement, the Coconut Creek Police Department can continue to receive and extend mutual aid in the form of law enforcement services with the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The agreement provides for mutual aid to be provided for a period of five (5) years, expiring on August 1, 2030.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

FISCAL IMPACT:  N/A
