title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES WITH THE SEMINOLE TRIBE OF FLORIDA.

body

BACKGROUND:

The Florida Mutual Aid Act authorizes law enforcement agencies to enter into agreements for voluntary cooperation and assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional lines, as well as rendering assistance in a law enforcement emergency. The City of Coconut Creek previously entered into a mutual aid agreement with the Seminole Tribe of Florida on May 17, 2016, which expires on May 17, 2019.

DISCUSSION:

The attached mutual aid agreement for law enforcement services with the Seminole Tribe of Florida provides both parties the opportunity to receive assistance from each other when dealing with any multi-jurisdictional criminal law enforcement and non-criminal activities, as well as emergencies.  The agreement provides for mutual aid to be provided for a period of three (3) years from May 18, 2019 to May 17, 2022.
