A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A WORK AUTHORIZATION FOR GENERAL PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES WITH CARNAHAN, PROCTOR AND CROSS, INC. TO PERFORM A STRUCTURAL CONDITION SURVEY AND ASSESSMENT FOR FIVE (5) CITY-OWNED BRIDGES IN ACCORDANCE WITH RFQ NO. 03-25-20-02.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City owns and maintains five (5) bridges in South Creek. The bridges are over 40 years old and in need of structural assessment and, if necessary, rehabilitation to bring them up to code. The City is committed to providing continuity of service, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring the safety of its residential and business customers. The Structural Condition Survey and Assessment (Assessment) of the South Creek bridges is necessary to ensure safe and reliable mobility routes.

DISCUSSION:

The City has an agreement with Carnahan, Proctor and Cross, Inc. (Consultant) to perform general professional engineering services pursuant to RFQ No. 03-25-20-02. The Consultant provided a proposal to perform the necessary Assessment for the City’s five (5) bridges for a lump sum fee of $82,555.

The Assessment includes a review of recent Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports, onsite inspections, structural surveys including an underwater survey, and an evaluation of site findings as they relate to current codes and standards. Upon completion, the Assessment will help determine the need for rehabilitation plans for each bridge.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
