BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek desires to employ the services of Sheila N. Rose, as City Manager, pursuant to Article IV, entitled “City Manager,” of the City of Coconut Creek City Charter.

DISCUSSION:

On February 20, 2024, City Manager Karen M. Brooks announced her retirement date of April 5, 2024.   At the March 14, 2024 Commission meeting, the Commission gave direction to the City Attorney to prepare an employment contract with Sheila N. Rose, Deputy City Manager, as the new City Manager.

The proposed employment agreement represents the final product of negotiations between the City and Sheila N. Rose. The proposed agreement provides for a term of three (3) years, beginning on April 6, 2024, with the possibility to extend the agreement upon mutual agreement of the parties in writing at least one hundred and eighty (180) days in advance of the expiration of the agreement and proposes to pay Ms. Rose an annual salary of Two Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand, Four Hundred Eighteen Dollars ($285,418.00) plus benefits.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
