A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO RENEW THE ATTACHED BROWARD COUNTY MULTI-AGENCY HOMELESS OUTREACH TASKFORCE MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT.

BACKGROUND:
The Broward County Multi-Agency Homeless Outreach Taskforce Mutual Aid Agreement (“Agreement”) provides for law enforcement agencies across Broward County to make more efficient use of their powers and resources by providing a higher quality of law enforcement services to the public through the coordination of existing Homeless Outreach Units. The City is currently a participating agency in the Agreement, which is set to expire on December 31, 2023.
DISCUSSION:
By renewing this Agreement, the City can continue as a participating agency and, together with other participating agencies, undertake a strategic assessment as one Homeless Outreach Unit to respond to homeless issues. The Agreement will be in effect until December 31, 2028.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
