A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AMENDED NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT GRANT PROGRAM GUIDELINES, ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF AS EXHIBIT “A.”

body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek provides financial incentives for Neighborhood Associations, Homeowners Associations, Schools, and Non-Profit Organizations to promote a stronger, safer, and more sustainable community. The Neighborhood Enhancement Grant (NEG) Program is designed to stimulate and enhance neighborhood vitality by addressing the concerns and special needs of our neighborhoods. As a significant community program, the City funds the NEG Program on an annual basis.  The NEG Program Guidelines were last amended in 2022 to include street tree replacement and security enhancement projects.

DISCUSSION:

The Broward County Florida Fire Prevention Code now requires that all new and existing residential and commercial automatic entry gates be installed with a universal gate access system for first responders. The Fire Chiefs Association of Broward County (FCABC) recently approved the Click-2-Enter System, which will improve emergency response times and ensure those in need of life-saving assistance will receive the quickest and most efficient care possible. The cost of installation is approximately $2,000 per entrance gate. The Fire Marshal’s Office will be reaching out to those communities and businesses affected by this new code to go over the implementation process.

The NEG Program is one of the most popular and impactful grant programs in the City. Adding the Universal Gate Access as an eligible project will promote a stronger, safer, and more sustainable community.
