TITLE:

title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION (CJIS) EXCHANGE AND USE.

body

BACKGROUND:

The Coconut Creek Police Department (CCPD) and the Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD) are criminal justice agencies recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).  The City of Coconut Creek has entered into an Interagency Agreement with the City of Coral Springs for dispatch services, which goes into effect October 3, 2022, and requires that the parties share criminal justice information. In September 2016, the City also entered into a Criminal Justice User Agreement with FDLE in order to share criminal justice information, which was updated in March 2022.

DISCUSSION:

The Coconut Creek Police Department maintains records through an electronic management system, which creates and stores offense reports. Coral Springs maintains a Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), Crash Reporting System (CRS), Citation Management System (CMS), and a Data Assistant Program (DAP). Entering into this Interagency Agreement will provide for such criminal justice information records to be electronically shared between the parties to provide for the efficient administration of criminal justice.
