BACKGROUND:
This item was approved on First Reading at the January 13, 2022, City Commission Meeting. The Commission requested that waiver provisions be added to the Ordinance before second reading, which are included in the attached Ordinance in Section 2-82(e)(4).
The City of Margate was contracted to provide fire and emergency medical services response and transport in the City of Coconut Creek until September 26, 2021. The City of Margate would charge an off-duty detail fee rate of $35.00 per hour, per firefighter/paramedic, at a minimum for three hours to the City of Coconut Creek. The City of Coconut Creek would charge the business or group requesting the off-duty detail the cost of the fees billed by Margate.
DISCUSSION:
Under this ordinance, the off-duty fee for firefighter/paramedics or fire inspectors would be fifty dollars ($50.00) per hour per individual. If four (4) or more individuals are being requested for the same event, one person will serve in a supervisory capacity and will be charged a fee of fifty-four dollars ($54.00) per hour. Request for personnel on City-observed holidays would be sixty dollars ($60.00) per individual. If four (4) or more individuals are being requested on a holiday for the same event, one person will serve in a supervisory capacity and will be charged a fee of sixty-four dollars ($64.00) per hour. All off-duty requests require a three (3) hour minimum charge.
