title

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY’S CODE OF ORDINANCES, BY AMENDING CHAPTER 2, “ADMINISTRATION,” ARTICLE V, “BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES,” DIVISION 3, “CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD,” SECTION 2-239, “FINE REDUCTION PROCEDURES,” TO REFLECT AN UPDATE IN THE COMPOSITION OF THE CITY’S FINE REDUCTION COMMITTEE. body

BACKGROUND:

This item was approved on First Reading at the January 13, 2022, City Commission Meeting.

This ordinance seeks to update the composition of staff members on the City’s Code Enforcement Fine Reduction Committee. Since the Committee’s inception in 2009, the Code Enforcement Fine Reduction Committee has had three (3) staff member representatives: one (1) from the City Manager's Department, one (1) from the City Attorney's Office, and one (1) from the Sustainable Development Department.

DISCUSSION:

This ordinance provides that a staff member from the City’s Finance and Administrative Services Department will assume the seat on the Committee that was formerly held by the City Attorney’s Office. As a practical matter, a voice representing the City’s overall fiscal responsibilities and its current financial position would enrich the discussion at the Committee’s meetings.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this ordinance.
