A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A WORK AUTHORIZATION FOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED BY WALTERS ZACKRIA ASSOCIATES, PLLC, RELATED TO THE EXPANSION OF THE UTILITIES AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE BUILDING AT SABAL PINES PARK.

BACKGROUND:
The construction of the Public Works Emergency Operations Center was completed in Fiscal Year (FY) 14. The Utilities and Engineering Department moved their equipment and large vehicles to the Sabal Pines Park maintenance yard shared with Public Works. This shared storage arrangement no longer meets the needs of the department as staff has determined it is in dire need of additional storage. Architectural services are necessary to prepare the design and construction documents. Cost for architectural fees is budgeted in the current fiscal year.
DISCUSSION:
The project will retrofit the Sabal Pines Park maintenance yard to accommodate an additional four (4) enclosed bays attached to the existing storage building and landscaping on the north, east, and west perimeter walls. Walters Zackria Associates, PLLC, is on the City’s approved list of qualified consultants for architectural services pursuant to RFQ No. 08-24-16-11 and has provided a proposal in the amount of $97,805 to perform the aforementioned services. Design services authorized under the Work Authorization are anticipated to be completed within 120 days from the date of commencement.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
