body

BACKGROUND:

On April 22, 2021, in accordance with Section 2-262 of the Code of Ordinances, the City Commission appointed five regular members and one alternate member to the Educational Advisory Board under Resolution 2021-067, in which the full slate of membership was unanimously approved by the City Commission.

Recently, Mayor Tooley’s appointee for the alternate position, Patricia Snyder, advised that she could not serve on the board, creating a vacancy.

DISCUSSION:

According to Section 2-193 of the City’s Code, vacancies of regular or alternate members of any board, due to any reason whatsoever, shall be filled by the nomination of a person by the city commissioner who sits in the seat of the commissioner who made the original nomination of the vacating member. Such nominations shall be approved by the majority of the City Commission in the same manner as for initial appointments. The length of term of the member filling a vacancy shall be the remainder of the original member's term.
