A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ONE REGULAR MEMBER AND ONE ALTERNATE MEMBER TO THE COMMUNITY OUTREACH ADVISORY BOARD TO FILL THE REMAINDER OF THE TERM ENDING WITH THE NEXT APPOINTMENT IN 2021.

BACKGROUND:
On March 14, 2019, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2019-005, which established a Community Outreach Advisory Board to serve in an advisory capacity to the Community Relations Division in matters relating to public relations, website communications, social media, video production, marketing and branding.
On July 23, 2020, in accordance with Section 2-266 of the Code of Ordinances, the City Commission each nominated one person to fill a position of membership on the Community Outreach Advisory Board, and the Mayor also nominated one person to fill the alternate position.
Recently, Commissioner Welch’s appointee and the alternate member positions have become vacant. According to Section 2-193 of the City’s Code, vacancies of regular and/or alternate members of any board, commission or committee due to any reason whatsoever, shall be filled by the nomination of a person by the city commissioner who sits in the seat of the commissioner who made the original nomination of the vacating member. Such nominations shall be approved by the majority of the City Commission in the same manner as for initial appointments. The length of term of the member filling a vacancy shall be the remainder of the original member's term.
