BACKGROUND:

Due to the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Governor issued Executive Order No. 20-52 on March 9, 2020, declaring a state of emergency statewide and authorizing in accordance with Section 252.38, Florida Statutes, each political subdivision within the State to "waive the procedures and formalities otherwise required of the political subdivision by law pertaining to . . . [the] [p]erformance of public work and taking whatever prudent action is necessary to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community.”

DISCUSSION:

The City Commission finds and determines that such relief in the form of a ninety (90) day extension of the current board appointments authorized for the previous term as provided in Resolution Nos. 2019-098 (Parks and Recreation Advisory Board), 2019-099 (Environmental Advisory Board), 2019-100 (Planning and Zoning Board), 2019-103 (Community Outreach Advisory Board), 2019-104 (Education Advisory Board), and 2019-105 (Public Safety Advisory Board), and Motion 19-239 (Charter Review Board), and such further term extensions be authorized in writing by the City Manager, or designee, for so long as the state of emergency persists and up to thirty (30) days thereafter, is in the best interests of the residents of the City of Coconut Creek and serves a public purpose.
