BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Invitation for Bid is to contract with a qualified Florida Department of Transportation approved Landscape Contractor to enhance the State Road 7 medians from Cullum Road to just south of the Sawgrass Expressway. The project consists of the installation of an irrigation system, decorative brick pavers, trees, shrubs, groundcover, and sod. The City was successful in obtaining a Florida Highway Beautification Council Grant in the amount of $100,000 to partially fund these improvements, and the City of Coral Springs has agreed to share in the ongoing maintenance costs.
DISCUSSION:
On December 1, 2019, the City issued one hundred seventy eight (178) electronic invitations to bid for the State Road 7 Median Beautification project. Six (6) responsive submittals were received from the following contractors: 1) VisualScape, Inc. ($486,702.35); 2) Landscape Service Professionals, Inc. ($529,148.00); 3) MBR Construction, Inc. ($647,640.00); 4) Green Construction Technologies, Inc. ($648,982.00); 5) Arazoza Brothers Corp. ($687,105.70); and 6) SFM Services, Inc. ($706,131.55). Staff recommends awarding the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, VisualScape, Inc. for the total bid amount of $486,702.35.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
