A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A NOTICE OF SITE DEDICATION AND LIMITATION OF USE NECESSARY TO OBTAIN REIMBURSEMENT AND TO SATISFY THE REQUIREMENTS OF A GRANT RECEIVED FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (FDEP) FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF LAKESIDE PARK.

body

BACKGROUND:

On May 25, 2017, the City Commission approved the acceptance of a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant program in the amount of $200,000 for the purpose of making certain capital improvements at Lakeside Park, most notably sport field lighting improvements. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) administers the LWCF program through their Florida Recreation Development and Assistance Program (FRDAP). In accordance with the grant agreement, the City must file a site dedication with Broward County, requiring that the facility be dedicated in perpetuity as an outdoor recreation area for the use and benefit of the general public.

DISCUSSION:

The City Charter Section 302.b.2 requires the Mayor to sign documents pertaining to real estate.  In order to receive reimbursement for the grant funding, the City must execute the aforementioned document and file it with Broward County.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
