title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE BROWARD SHERIFF’S OFFICE (BSO) FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE NARCAN DISTRIBUTION COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM.

body

BACKGROUND:

Broward County is currently battling a drug epidemic that is growing every day.  To help counteract opioid-related overdoses, the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) received funding, via a grant, for purchasing, storing, and distributing Naloxone (Narcan) to first responders within Broward County.

DISCUSSION:

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) allows BSO to provide the City with Narcan nasal spray and requisite training for treatment during an opioid emergency or overdose. The amount distributed will be determined by BSO, based on the needs of the City. The MOU term is for one year and then month-to-month.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
