BACKGROUND:
This item was approved on First Reading at the February 28, 2019, City Commission Meeting.
At the June 18, 2018, Commission Workshop, the City Commission directed staff to create an Education Advisory Board.
DISCUSSION:
The Education Advisory Board (“Board”) will act in an advisory capacity to the City Commission in matters relating to educational issues that impact the quality of education for the residents. Members will recommend educational activities and programs for children, their parents, and their schools; participate in quarterly lunch meetings with school principals and the City Commission; and develop recommendations to the City Commission for forwarding to the Broward County School Board regarding actions that may be taken in support of Coconut Creek schools. The Board will consist of five (5) regular members and one (1) alternate member and meet on a bi-monthly basis.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this ordinance.
