A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK’S STATE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA FOR THE 2019 LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek works with our State Lobbyist, Ericks Consulting, each year to create a State Legislative Agenda to be submitted to the Broward County Legislative Delegation, Broward County Board of County Commissioners, Broward League of Cities, Florida League of Cities, and state representatives.
DISCUSSION:
A public workshop was held at 4:00 pm on December 3, 2018, for the City’s State Lobbyists from Ericks Consulting to meet with the City Commission to discuss the legislative climate in Tallahassee and the City’s legislative priorities. Representative Kristin Jacobs attended this meeting, as did Senator Kevin Rader via telephone.
Based on the discussion that occurred during this meeting, staff prepared the attached 2019 State Legislative Agenda. It lists the City’s objectives for legislative action at the state level on issues that may affect the City of Coconut Creek, its residents, and its businesses.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
