BACKGROUND:
On May 6, 2018, the City issued RFP No. 06-06-18-11 to retain the services of a qualified and experienced firm to provide household hazardous waste collection and disposal services and other related services. The City of Coconut Creek is the lead agency for this cooperative contract on behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Co-operative Group. The current agreement expires in October 2018.
DISCUSSION:
Solicitations were electronically sent through the eBid system to 28 prospective vendors, and two responsive proposals were received from: 1) Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Inc., and 2) Waste Pro of Florida, Inc.
The submittals were evaluated based on the criteria listed in the RFP by the Selection Committee comprised of Mike Heimbach, Public Works Program Manager; Brian O'Connor, Purchasing Manager, Town of Davie; Melissa Doyle, Solid Waste Program Manager, City of Fort Lauderdale; and Russell Ketchem, Solid Waste Manager, City of Pompano Beach. After evaluating the submittals, the Selection Committee recommends awarding the contract to Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Inc. This agreement is for a two (2) year period, with the option to renew for two (2) additional two (2) year periods.
The Cities of Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Tamarac, and Lauderdale Lakes will continue to conduct joint participation events along with the addition of the City of North Lauderdale.
