body
BACKGROUND:
Communities across America have been plagued by the numerous problems associated with illicit drug use and the trafficking of drugs. To encourage a drug-free lifestyle and involvement in drug prevention and reduction efforts, the Red Ribbon Campaign was established by Congress in 1988.
The Atlantic Coast Young Marines will be educating communities about the importance of Red Ribbon Week. The Young Marines is the focal point for the U.S. Marine Corps' Youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts. It is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school. The program focuses on character building and leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The mission of the Young Marines is to positively impact America's future by providing quality youth development programs for boys and girls that nurtures and develops its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
