BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to the City’s Charter, a Redistricting Board is convened every five years to review and make recommendations regarding the geographic boundaries of the City Commission Districts. As part of the process, the City hires an Urban Geographer to consult with the Redistricting Board and then hires an engineering firm to update the legal descriptions and create boundary maps of the districts. The Redistricting Board last convened in 2013.
DISCUSSION:
This motion will provide for a budget transfer to fund expenditures related to the City’s 2018 Redistricting Board. Funding for these expenditures will be from the Contingency Account in the General Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Motion.
