A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A CASH SECURITY AGREEMENT WITH BROWARD COUNTY IN THE AMOUNT OF $347,593 FOR WORK TO BE PERFORMED WITHIN BROWARD COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RECLAIMED WATER MAIN EXTENSION ON WILES ROAD FROM NW 39 AVENUE TO LYONS ROAD AND THEN SOUTH ON LYONS ROAD TO CULLUM ROAD.
body
BACKGROUND:
The City is committed to expanding the reclaimed water distribution system, and this project will extend the reclaimed water main along Wiles Road from NW 39 Avenue to Lyons Road and then south on Lyons Road to Cullum Road. In 2016, the City obtained a grant from the South Florida Water Management District for $300,000 towards this project. In 2017, the City entered into an Interlocal Agreement with Broward County to share the cost of this project in the amount of $200,000. This project supports the Broward County Integrated Water Resources Plan, which calls for Ocean Outfall Elimination by the year 2025, and will bring reclaimed water to the future MainStreet Project Area (MSPA).
DISCUSSION:
Broward County is requiring a cash security for the portion of the reclaimed water main extension to be constructed within the County’s right-of-way along Wiles Road from NW 39 Avenue to Lyons Road and then south on Lyons Road to Cullum Road. The cash security will be held by the County for one year after the completion of the project. There will be no administrative security release fee since this is a water project. Funding will come from the Utilities Enterprise Fund-Capital Spending.

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
