BACKGROUND:

Detective Rod Skirvin has proudly served the Coconut Creek Police Department for 27 years.

Detective Skirvin is a graduate of Pompano Beach High School, and attended Broward College, where he completed his EMT training. In 1985, he attended the Broward Fire Academy and became a certified firefighter.  In 1986, Detective Skirvin entered the United States Navy where he proudly served until 1990. During his enlistment, he was deployed to the Persian Gulf for six months and did multiple tours in South America for drug interdiction operations.

Upon his return, Detective Skirvin attended the Broward Police Academy and was hired by the City of Coconut Creek as a Public Safety Officer. He became a detective in 1995, and holds the distinction of being Coconut Creek’s longest-tenured detective.  Detective Skirvin has been actively involved in the Broward County Police Benevolent Association and currently holds the title of Vice President.

We wish Rod a very happy retirement and thank him for his dedicated service to the City.
