BACKGROUND:

In 2016, the City approved an agreement with Eckler Engineering, Inc. to design the expansion of the reclaimed water main on Wiles Road from NW 39th Avenue to Lyons Road, and on Lyons Road from Wiles Road to Cullum Road. Consequently, the design plans and specifications have been completed, reviewed, and approved by City staff.

DISCUSSION:

The City is in the process of awarding the construction contract of said reclaimed water main expansion, which will require specific construction engineering services. Eckler Engineering, Inc. will provide said construction engineering services, which include, but are not limited to, review of contractor inquiries, review of shop drawings, required inspections, progress meetings, and regulatory agency coordination at a cost of $55,400.

Construction is anticipated to begin in 2018 and to be completed within a 300-day period from issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.

NOTES:  Funds are available in Account No. 4291536-6828, Reclaimed Water Program. As a condition of the Development Order for the MainStreet Development of Regional Impact (DRI), the developer is obligated to install on-site service and truck lines to facilitate the use of reclaimed water to each parcel.  The developer is also obligated to share in the cost of extending the lines to the property with the prorated cost assessed to the benefited property owners.
