BACKGROUND:
The City has identified reclaimed water as an alternative irrigation water supply source for its service areas. This is a major component of the City's Green Plan, including the Reclaimed Water Master Plan. The City has an existing reclaimed water main connection with Broward County's reclaimed water metering station at Wiles Road and NW 39th Avenue. Design plans have been completed to extend the reclaimed water main west along Wiles Road to Lyons Road and then south to Cullum Road for future expansion in the MainStreet Project Area, and north for irrigation of medians. In 2016, the City obtained a grant from the South Florida Water Management District for $300,000 towards this project. Additionally in 2017, the City entered into an interlocal agreement with Broward County for cost sharing in the amount of $200,000 for this project.
DISCUSSION:
The City received nine competitive bids for this project in 2017. The lowest responsive bidder was Rohl Global Networks LP, bidding at $1,385,000. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2018 and to be completed within a 300-day period from issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
