BACKGROUND:
This Motion will provide for a budget transfer of $150,000 to fund the development of a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for planning services will be issued in February.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Coconut Creek Parks and Recreation Department is seeking to optimize the City’s existing parks and recreation resources and assets, as well as strategically plan for the future. It is intended that the Plan will provide a 10 year vision, as well as an action plan for implementing the vision for parks, recreation programs and services, open space, trails, and recreation facilities. It will include research, public involvement, and the development of recommendations for all aspects of the City’s park system, including providing a community demand, supply, and needs analysis.
Sufficient funding is available in contingency in the General Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Motion.
