BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek is committed to ensuring sufficient park facilities for its residents, and the Parks and Recreation Department has determined that athletic fields are in high demand within the City. To that end, the City purchased a five (5) acre parcel in 2016 from the School Board of Broward County adjacent to Lakeside Park with the intention of utilizing the parcel to construct additional park facilities.
DISCUSSION:
Abaco Engineering, Inc. is an experienced and qualified firm that is on the City’s General Professional Engineering Services List, which was established through RFQ No. 11-19-14-10. Approval of this Resolution will provide a work authorization for Abaco Engineering, Inc., under the master agreement, to provide professional design services for the Lakeside Park expansion project at a cost of $170,810.00. It is anticipated that the project will include one (1) or two (2) artificial turf multipurpose fields, sports/site lighting, parking, landscaping, and various park amenities such as bleachers and park benches.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
