A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A WORK AUTHORIZATION WITH ATKINS NORTH AMERICA, INC. FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO MODIFY THE DESIGN PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL ON LYONS ROAD AT THE WINSTON PARK PLAZA AND ST. ANDREWS ENTRANCES.

body

BACKGROUND:

On November 13, 2014, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2014-86, authorizing Atkins North America, Inc. (hereinafter “Atkins”) to design the traffic signal located on Lyons Road at the Winston Park Plaza and St. Andrews entrances through the City’s consulting agreement procured through Request for Qualifications (RFQ) No. 06-22-11-10.  Due to unforeseen changes brought on by the Complete Streets project, the traffic signal mast arm design must be modified, resulting in additional unanticipated expenses to the City.

DISCUSSION:

City staff recommends continuing the project through to conclusion with Atkins, applying the same terms and conditions of the former agreement pursuant to RFQ No. 06-22-11-10 and the newly proposed consulting work authorization and scope of work issued by Atkins. The project will be completed no later than December 15, 2017, and the cost shall not exceed $10,000, which includes the attached change order of $9,389 and a $611 contingency.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
