A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $331,070 FOR THE PURCHASE OF POLICE OFFICER UNIFORMS, BODY ARMOR VEST COVERS, AN AGGRESSIVE DRIVING VEHICLE, RADARS, LASERS, DRIVER’S SPEED FEEDBACK DISPLAY, NARCAN NASAL SPRAY, MEDIA CAMERA, GUN VAULTS, HONOR GUARD UNIFORMS, SALARIES FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS, AND SCANNERS; AND AUTHORIZING THE USE OF LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000 TO PROVIDE A DONATION TO THE POLICE EXPLORER POST.

BACKGROUND:
Please see attached memo and associated backup from Captain John DiCintio to City Manager Mary Blasi, explaining the request to purchase items with Federal Law Enforcement Trust funds in the amount of $331,070 and Local Law Enforcement Trust Funds in the amount of $6,000 to provide a donation to the Police Explorer Post.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to protecting its residents and visitors and the protection of property, while creating a safe environment for all who live in, work in, or visit our community. Purchasing the above-referenced items will enhance the Police Department’s ability to do so. The donation to the Police Explorer Post will assist the Explorers with training and purchasing new equipment and uniforms.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
