body

BACKGROUND:

On February 19, 2017, the City issued RFP No. 03-15-17-10 to establish an agreement with a qualified vendor to provide vending services to the City of Coconut Creek’s various facilities.  The current Agreement with The Family Vending Company has been in effect since June 12, 2008, and is due to expire on June 11, 2017.

DISCUSSION:

Solicitations were electronically sent through the eBid system to twenty-two (22) prospective vendors, and three (3) firms submitted responses:  1) Bettoli Trading Corp. D/B/A Bettoli Vending, 2) Compass Group by and through its Canteen Vending Services Division, and 3) Right Choice Vending.

Purchasing staff reviewed the submittals for responsiveness and conducted reference checks.  The submittals were found to be responsive and the performance reference surveys resulted in a “good” rating. The submittals were evaluated based on criteria listed in the RFP by the Selection Committee comprised of Justin Weinberg, Human Resources Specialist; Janet Hull, Parks and Recreation Superintendent; and Mike Heimbach, Public Works Operations Manager. After evaluating  the three submittals, the Selection Committee recommends awarding an agreement to Bettoli Trading Corp. D/B/A Bettoli Vending.  It is the City’s intent to fill the machines with 60 percent healthy snacks and drinks. The initial term of the Agreement is for a three (3) year period with the option to renew for up to three (3) one (1) year periods.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
