title

A RESOLUTION URGING ALL MEMBERS OF THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO OPPOSE HOUSE BILL 81 AND SENATE BILL 106, WHICH WOULD ALLOW EMPLOYEES UNDER THE AGE OF 18 TO SELL LIQUOR.

body

BACKGROUND:

House Bill (HB) 81, sponsored by Representative Bryan Avila, and Senate Bill (SB) 106, sponsored by Senator Anitere Flores, allows employees under the age of 18, in certain circumstances, to sell liquor.  The bills also allow hard liquor to be sold in stores that are not restricted to selling liquor and related products making alcohol more accessible to minors.

DISCUSSION:

The City of Coconut Creek urges members of the Florida Legislature to oppose these two bills in an effort to limit the accessibility of hard liquor to minors.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution in opposition to HB 81 and SB 106.
