BACKGROUND:
On December 8, 2016, the City entered into a professional services agreement with Keith and Schnars, P.A. for Architecture, Landscape Architectural and Urban Design Services pursuant to RFQ No. 08-24-16-11.
Landscape architectural services are necessary to design the plans for landscape and irrigation improvements to the area surrounding Coconut Creek High School (CCHS) and Cougar Trail. The City has developed a scope of work and obtained a quote from Keith and Schnars, P.A. in the amount of $39,930 to provide these professional services. This would be the first work authorization for Keith and Schnars under the Agreement.
DISCUSSION:
The CCHS lake bank contains minimal trees, no sod, numerous weeds and invasive vegetation, and no irrigation. The Cougar Trail swale is not irrigated and contains no shrubs. Additionally, there are several sections where there are no trees. The proposed improvement project would involve adding irrigation to both areas as well as trees, shrubs, and sod where appropriate.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
