A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED BROWARD COUNTY MULTI-AGENCY HOMELESS OUTREACH TASKFORCE AGREEMENT.

BACKGROUND:
The Multi-Agency Homeless Outreach Taskforce allows participating agencies to make more efficient use of their powers and resources by providing a higher quality of law enforcement services to the public through the coordination of existing units, pursuant to the Florida Mutual Aid Act, Section 23.12 et seq., Florida Statutes.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to protecting and serving its residents. The Multi-Agency Homeless Outreach Taskforce enables participating agencies to use common training and support functions in order to develop, coordinate, and implement homeless outreach efforts throughout Broward County. The City desires to allow police officers to participate in the task force to provide a higher quality of law enforcement services to the public.
The term of the Agreement is through December 31, 2018, and includes the following participating law enforcement agencies:
• The Broward Sheriff’s Office
• The City of Plantation Police Department
• The City of Margate Police Department
• The City of Hallandale Beach Police Department
• The City of Hollywood Police Department
• The City of Miramar Police Department
• The City of Pembroke Pines Police Department
• The Town of Davie Police Department
• The City of Sunrise Police Department
• The City of Lauderhill Police Department
• The City of Coral Springs Police Department
• The City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department
• The City of Lighthouse Point Police Department
• The Seminole Tribe of Florida
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
