BACKGROUND:

The Haitian American Nurses Association of Florida, Inc. (HANA) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1984 to provide nurses the opportunity to unite as a group, share and provide ideas, and become effectively involved with the issues and services relevant to the health and welfare of communities in Florida and abroad.

HANA encourages nurses to serve, lead, educate, and empower others toward a healthier life and has organized relief efforts for those in need, providing care, medication, food, clothing, and supplies.  HANA was instrumental in organizing local relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti.

The City of Coconut Creek recognizes Shaun Kirk of Home Depot for donating eight pallets of water (over 16,000 bottles) to the HANA.  The City also recognizes Tommy Elmore of Haley Construction, Inc. for assisting with a boom lift to transport the pallets of water to Food for the Poor, which shipped the pallets to Haiti.
