title

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK’S 2017 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek creates a Federal Legislative Agenda each year to be submitted to the City’s federal lobbying consultants.

DISCUSSION:

The Coconut Creek 2017 Federal Legislative Agenda was created with staff input and suggestions by our federal lobbyist, Van Scoyoc Associates.  It addresses issues that could impact the City over the next year, including energy and the environment, social services and economic development, transportation, public safety, and finance.

Four items were added to this year’s Legislative Agenda in the categories of: Federal Landfill Regulations; Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) rulemaking to set new Human Health-Based Water Quality Criteria; Monitoring Healthcare Reform; and Monitoring Proposed Cuts to Domestic Discretionary Spending Programs.

The City’s 2017 Federal Legislative Agenda will be discussed at the February 23, 2017, 5:30 pm Commission Workshop.  Upon approval by the City Commission, the City of Coconut Creek’s 2017 Federal Legislative Agenda will be utilized by Van Scoyoc Associates to represent the City at the Federal level.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
