A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS PROVIDING FOR HIRING, TRAINING, ASSISTING, AND PAYING POLL WORKERS AND POLL DEPUTIES, AS WELL AS FOR THE DELIVERY AND PICK-UP OF ELECTION EQUIPMENT FOR THE MARCH 14, 2017, MUNICIPAL ELECTION.

body

BACKGROUND:

The proposed Agreement is presented in preparation for the forthcoming stand-alone General Municipal Election to be held on March 14, 2017, for Commission Seats in Districts B, C, and E.

Through this Agreement, the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office will use its database and resources to hire, train, assist, and pay poll workers, Voting Service Technicians (VSTs), and poll deputies on behalf of the City for the March Election. The Agreement also covers the delivery and pick-up of election equipment from the polling places.

DISCUSSION:

The hiring, training, assisting, and payment of poll workers is an efficient and beneficial service provided by the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office for Broward municipalities whose elections are held in March.

This is the same standardized agreement for services that the City entered into for the March 10, 2015, Municipal Election. However, a new Indemnification Clause, provided by our legal department, was added.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.

REVENUES:                     $ 0

EXPENDITURES:                       $77,924
