BACKGROUND:
The Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program is designed to provide funding assistance for projects that promote a stronger, safer, and more sustainable community. The Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program has a $65,000 budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2017. Country Woods Estates is requesting matching funds from the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program. The proposed project seeks to enhance the aesthetics and security of the residential community. Country Woods would be the first Neighborhood Enhancement Grant of FY 2017.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to ensuring a high quality lifestyle and maintain/increasing property values. The applicant is proposing to enhance the community by improving landscaping as well as providing for the addition of a security system at the neighborhood entrance. Specifically, the enhancements include the planting of 207 native plants, two security cameras, and lighting upgrades. The grant project is a further enhancement of the community and satisfies the standards established in the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program. The original grant submitted was a request for $7,139.25 or 50% of $14,278.50. After further review of the submission and bid totals, staff believes Country Woods is eligible for up to $9,624.20, and the revised project cost will be reflected as $19,248.40.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution in the full amount of $9,624.20. The Resolution has been drafted to effectuate this recommendation.
