A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK’S STATE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA FOR THE 2017 LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek works with our State Lobbyist, Ericks Consulting, each year to create a State Legislative Agenda to be submitted to the Broward County Legislative Delegation, Broward County Board of County Commissioners, Broward League of Cities, Florida League of Cities, and our state representatives. This document lists the City’s objectives for legislative action at the state level on issues that may affect the City of Coconut Creek, its residents, and its businesses.
DISCUSSION:
Many of the issues that were identified in past legislative agendas remain the same, including environmental concerns and transportation issues; therefore, you will notice familiar issues as you read this year’s Legislative Agenda.
On November 10, 2016, the city held a public workshop for our State Lobbyists from Ericks Consulting to present and discuss the City’s 2017 Legislative Agenda. City Commissioners were provided a binder with the 2017 State Legislative Agenda, including the City’s 2016 Legislative Agenda and final report, Broward Legislative Delegation contact information, and information from the Broward League of Cities and Florida Leagues of Cities regarding their legislative agendas, which are in the process of being drafted. A copy of this binder is on file in the Clerk’s Office.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
