A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO CONDUCT LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS ALONG THE COCONUT CREEK HIGH SCHOOL LAKE BANKS.

BACKGROUND:
The lake banks surrounding Coconut Creek High School have not been properly maintained and do not meet the City’s landscape standards. The School Board of Broward County has been unable to fund the proper maintenance of the lake banks and the City has expressed a desire to design, construct, and maintain landscape improvements along the lake banks in an effort to improve the aesthetics of the area. The School Board of Broward County has expressed support of the City’s desire contingent upon the City and School Board entering into a Maintenance Agreement.
DISCUSSION:
Under this Agreement, the City will assume responsibility for the design, construction, and maintenance of a new irrigation system and landscape materials while the School Board will continue to be responsible for the maintenance of the lake itself and any lake bank erosion issues. The term of the Agreement is for twenty-five years.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
