BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Invitation for Bid is to contract with a qualified, experienced licensed contractor to enhance the Hillsboro Boulevard medians within the City limits. The medians currently consist primarily of an irrigation system with sod, brick pavers, and no landscape materials. The project consists of replacing an irrigation pump station that has exceeded its expected useful life, creating new landscape beds, and planting numerous trees and palms. The City was successful in obtaining a Florida Highway Beautification Council Grant in the amount of $100,000 to partially fund these improvements.
DISCUSSION:
On August 14, 2016, the City issued two hundred eleven (211) electronic invitations. Three (3) responsive submittals were received from MBR Construction, Inc. ($277,430.82), VisualScape, Inc. ($284,497.20), and Arazoza Brothers Corp. ($380,842.00). Staff recommends awarding the contract to the low, responsive bidder, MBR Construction, Inc.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution. A copy of the Bid package is located in the Commission office for review.
