A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE SHERIFF OF BROWARD COUNTY DATED NOVEMBER 14, 2012, PROVIDING FOR DELIVERY OF FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF UNINCORPORATED BROWARD COUNTY KNOWN AS HILLSBORO PINES AND HILLSBORO RANCHES.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek and the Sheriff of Broward County (BSO) entered into an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) on November 14, 2012, for the provision of fire protection and emergency medical services to certain areas of unincorporated Broward County known as Hillsboro Pines and Hillsboro Ranches. The ILA provides for an initial three-year term from the date of the execution of the ILA until September 30, 2015, and then it provides for automatic renewals each year for four years until terminated in writing. On October 15, 2015, the First Amendment to the ILA was executed to update Exhibit “A” to the Agreement.
DISCUSSION:
On September 22, 2016, the City entered into an ILA with the City of Margate for the provision of fire protection and emergency medical services. The purpose of this Second Amendment to the ILA with BSO for fire protection and emergency medical services in Hillsboro Pines and Hillsboro Ranches is to update Exhibit “A” to the ILA with the new Agreement with the City of Margate, the City’s contracted provider of fire rescue services.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
