A MOTION TO REJECT RFP NO. 09-21-16-10 FOR FARMERS MARKET.

BACKGROUND:
On August 21, 2016, the City issued RFP No. 09-21-16-10 to contract with a qualified firm to operate a Farmers Market that would provide produce, goods, and entertainment to attendees. The intended schedule for the Farmers Market is the first and third Saturday of each month from November through April. The location of the Farmers Market will be the parking lot on the southeast corner of NW 54 Avenue and NW 40 Street in the MainStreet area. The primary objectives of the Farmers Market are to: (a) offer community members an opportunity to purchase locally-made produce and goods; (b) provide local businesses, artisans, and farmers the opportunity to sell their products; (c) create a free, festive community event that attracts residents of all ages; (d) highlight Coconut Creek’s commitment to green initiatives and sustainable environmental practices; and (e) provide a variety of vendors that will attract various demographics.
DISCUSSION:
The RFP opening occurred on September 21, 2016. Twenty-seven (27) vendors were solicited, ten (10) documents were downloaded, and zero responses were received. Staff intends to survey potential vendors, revise the scope of services, and re-advertise the RFP as soon as possible.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Commission reject RFP No. 09-21-16-10.
