BACKGROUND:
In 2011, the Broward Water Partnership was formed as a regional water conservation initiative among Broward County and 18 municipal water utilities to implement the Broward Water Conservation Incentives Program, later branded Conservation Pays. The goal of the Program is to achieve a 20 million gallon per day reduction in water consumption by 2020 through water conservation.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to supporting the overall objective of the Broward Water Conservation Incentives Program, which encourages residents and businesses in Broward County to adopt an enduring water conservation ethic, support long-term water resource sustainability, and to achieve permanent and measurable water savings through replacement of low efficiency plumbing fixtures with high efficiency models. The City is currently a partner-city and over the past four years Coconut Creek residents have received a total of $11,046 in grants. The City wishes to continue its relationship with this agreement. The agreement is for a five-year period, effective October 1, 2016, through September 30, 2021.

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
