BACKGROUND:
This item was approved on First Reading at the October 9, 2025, City Commission Meeting.
Section 2-57 of the City’s Code of Ordinances contains the provisions for the use of off-duty police officers for unofficial functions.
DISCUSSION:
The City seeks to amend Section 2-57 of the Code of Ordinances to adjust the hourly rates for regular and holiday special detail assignments as follows:
Regular Rate
• Police Officer/Police Service Aide: from $60 to $70
• Supervisor: from $70 to $80
Holiday Rate
• Police Officer/Police Service Aide: from $75 to $85
• Supervisor: from $90 to $100
This amendment is intended to align the City’s fee structure with the terms of the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreements for Fiscal Years 2026 through 2028.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this ordinance.
