BACKGROUND:

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy on February 14, 2018, greatly impacted the South Florida community, including the City of Coconut Creek.  Since that time, the City has supported the Parkland community in a variety of ways, from advocating for tighter gun control to hosting an annual remembrance ceremony and proclamation.  In an effort to drive positive change with a broader community impact, this year’s Day of Service and Love Proclamation introduces a citywide employee volunteer initiative that will encourage and celebrate employee volunteer hours throughout the year, serving as a tangible way for the City to give back to the community in recognition and honor of those impacted by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas tragedy.
