TITLE:

title

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK’S 2023 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek works with our Federal Lobbyist each year to create a Federal Legislative Agenda to be submitted to the City’s Federal Delegation. Please note that the highlighted yellow text in Exhibit A represents added, edited or updated legislative information from the January 10, 2023 public workshop.

DISCUSSION:

Staff communicates with the City’s Federal Lobbyists, Van Scoyoc Associates, throughout the year on issues of legislative importance to the City.  Based on these communications, a public workshop was held at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2023, to review the proposed Federal Legislative Agenda with the City Commission, Federal Lobbyists Jim Crum and Harry Glenn from Van Scoyoc Associates, State Lobbyists Candice Ericks and Lauren Jackson from Ericks Consulting, State Senator Tina Polsky, State Representative Christine Hunschofsky, and Theresa Brier, Deputy District Director for Congressman Jared Moskowitz.  The attached proposed 2023 Coconut Creek Federal Legislative Agenda was updated following the workshop to include more current information about the Thin Blue Line Legislation, and reflects the City’s federal priorities for the upcoming year.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
